If you want to pass your driving test first time you'll need to conquer your nerves.
Passing your driving test is a big deal and you will almost certainly feel nervous on the day.
These #DrivingTestTips will help you manage your nerves and increase your chances of passing your driving test.
#1 Ask For A Mock Test
Your driving instructor will do everything they can to help you prepare. Carrying out mock driving tests on the weeks leading up to the big day will help you understand the process and make it feel less stressful when your test day arrives. You'll also gain confidence from knowing you've already passed a mock test so your mindset will be much more positive.
#2 Understand the DL25
What faults can a driving test examiner mark? Understanding where the faults could come from will help you to focus your driving. Ask your driving instructor to fully explain the DL25 marking sheet and how a driving fault can become a serious or dangerous fault.
#3 Visit the driving test centre
You don't want any surprises on the day of your driving test!
WS Driving School recommends visiting the test centre before your test day and familiarising yourself with the waiting room. If you suffer from anxiety and expect to struggle with nerves, ask your instructor to introduce you to the examiners in the weeks leading up to your test. Seeing that they are human may help you to relax for your driving test.
#4 Eat a banana
Bananas are the driving instructor superfood and are great for natural ways to improve your performance.
Eating a banana approximately one hour before your driving test will help to calm your stomach and release your potassium levels. Potassium helps to normalise your heart rate and send extra oxygen to the brain.
If you can manage to avoid caffeine you'll find your concentration will increase and most importantly - don't forget to breathe throughout your driving test. The brain needs as much oxygen as possible to make good decisions!
# Keep busy the night before
One of my #DrivingTestTips to all of my customers is to keep busy the night before your driving test. No matter how prepared you are, you will probably start thinking about the test, even if you're sat watching television. So pick up a crossword, play your Playstation or get yourself immersed in conversation. Whatever you do, keep your mind occupied with something other than your test and it'll help to keep the nerves away.
If you follow these simple tips to calm your driving test nerves you'll be well on your way to gaining your driving licence.
